Best 140amp MIG
Looking at getting a new mig. Looking for anybody's experience to persuade me to save the money and go with the Hobart or other cheaper brands. I will go with the Lincoln power mig if I'm not persuaded. This unit will stay in a shop 99.9% of its life and weld exhaust 90% of the time.

I have a miller and a Hobart, lots of interchangeable parts with the Hobart being a very competitively priced machine. I’d go Hobart over Lincoln, but I’m a Miller brat at heart. I’m not a professional welder but Millers seem to do much better in the higher amperage of their duty cycles then a Lincoln of a similar platform

My next door neighbor at work is a very busy body shop and they have two of the Hobart 140's, along with larger Miller's. They have been going strong for two yrs being used almost daily. My Miller 250 is old and needs a new handle and lead among just being worn out. After seeing how theirs at the body shop have been, I'm going with a Hobart for my next, I may use mine 10 times a yr.

Hobart and Miller are the same, Miller uses better grade internals than the Hobart that's why the price difference. If you can afford it buy a multi mode so you can mig tig or stick weld.

We have a Hobart 140 at the shop for small work. It does good and has been around a while.

I have a Lincoln stick as well as a 210mp at another shop where we need those machines. This 140 job will be at a shop where will only see exhaust work and minor repairs.

Hobart hands down. I love Millers but for the price you cannot beat a Hobart. I have had my first welder, a 110v flux core hobart for 15 years. Never skips a beat. Gets used to weld nuts on broken bolts these days but she built a lot of sweet kustom exhaust setups for my trucks during my younger years

You’re making a good choice. My buddy has a Lincoln 140 that gets hot and trips the reset more than it actually welds. It gets used for light work, mainly tacking.
I bring over my Miller 211 when it’s time to weld.
I’ve used a 140 Hobart in the past. Very impressed with the performance.

Oddly, I've had great luck with my Lincolns. The smallest I have is an SP175 and it has been fantastic. I don't use it any more since I bought the 255 to replace the CV655.

Run it on a huge extention cord or direct to plug, I have several Lincoln welders and all have been great and get Lots of HD use. 225 AC DC, 250 precision Tig, 140 Miguel, and a Miller 250. My 140 Will Not run on a small cord.

I really like my Miller 211, but I haven't used any of the small machines or any of the new auto-set type machines...

My next welder will be a 210mp
But for exhaust/sheet metal just about anything would work.

Everlast? I have one of their TIG’s and it hasn’t given me one problem. Buddy of mine has a big MIG of theirs and it works well.

I keep looking at their stuff, sure have some nice features for the money. I read online about issues and people calling them neverlast but the few people that I've run into that have them seem to really like them. I've been eyeballing the ac/dc tig/stick/plasma and a separate wire feed for a while.

I have the Lincoln Power Mig 210 as well, and absolutely love it! I have the mig, tig, stick, and spool gun for it. The tig is lift arc, it works well but I'm not much of a fan of it. I can purchase a pedal for the tig but it's rather pricey. I mostly use it for small projects, but the couple big welding jobs I have done with it were no sweat. The welder never skipped a beat but the Mig handle sure got toasty!....Lol

To follow up. I finally snapped a picture of his welder that is trip happy. Plugged into a 115v 20amp wall outlet and still wants to trip the reset often. It was purchased from NorthernTool. Maybe NorthernTool carries a “cheaper” line of this brand welder?
