That sure looks a lot like the Precision Industries 618IS shaft. I've seen them in various shades of darkness on the treated steel so although yours is not really dark, it probably still is a Precision Industries shaft.

So whats the word on the Precision stuff? Many failures?
I believe the shaft was bought through Suncoast, not sure if they use or did use Precision.

This is the intermediate shaft that was in the trans which I believe also came from suncaost. Not sure if its the same manufacturer as the input or not.

My brother snapped one of those shafts in his 06, at that time his truck dynod right at 700hp. Switched to tcs billet input and has not had a problem yet. Hope that helps you out a little bit.

Big Blue I would have to agree with you, I was just looking through your 48re thread and the precision shaft you installed looks identical to the picture I posted of the back side of the hub where the 3 tab washer sits.

TCS canada? Thats who I have been using in all my trans builds with no failures yet.
FWIW these shafts in my pictures have been holding 1000+HP to the wheels for several years now without failure. We are rebuilding the motor in my brothers truck so I decided to go through the trans too while it was out. Splines on the input have a slight twist, but its going back in.
I just wanted to figure out the mfg of these shafts to be able to pass the info along on what has survived a lot of abuse/power and maybe help someone down the road.
Im curious if anyone else has any first hand experience.

For a while it seemed like the Precision Shafts were holding big power and performing equal or better than anything else on the market, even lasting several passes in big HP prostreet 4x4 race trucks running deep into the 9's. Then they (Precision Industries) must have changed their head treat process, base billet materials source, or ??? and failures started popping up even on 600ish HP trucks.
Your shaft must be one of the old "good" ones if it's living in a 1000 HP truck!!!

Yes its probably at least 6 years old so it must be one of the "good" ones.
We run a suncoast manual valve body and have quite a few passes in the 9's, quickest being 9.63

I don't really see what the hype on one piece billet input shafts are ? I don't get to see "a lot" of broken billet inputs, but the few I've seen break have never been at the hub. Have anyone else seen any break at the hub ? Im just curious to see what issues others have had.
