It would be used like this... "Hey @Wideopen, Add this feature", and Wideopen would get a notification saying he's been tagged in a thread.
Less PMing and more direct notification.

I get direct notifications on my phone when someone quotes me. For example, my phone just dinged because you just quoted me.
