So who has the best combo and what are you using?

I was thinking:

95 12v 160 Pump
Stock Turbo
5x.012 Sticks
022 DVs
Stock head bolts lubed with moly to 135 ft/lbs
18 degrees timing
3k gsk or washers
Some type of cam plate

Auto trans
3.73 gears
295 tires
7200 lbs

What 22 mpg and 325 hp to the ground maybe?

I need a DD truck I feel like I should be buying tampons driving this car all the time...

Glenn how about some MPG build ideas?

i ran a 95 2500 8' bed 5 speed 175 pump 191 dv's ddp2 injectors timing @ 16.5*, II silver 62, 60lb springs, tonneau cover. 235-85-16, GEAR VENDORS, #10 plate FF, 4K gsk, 3.54 gears Also a cool air dam. LOL. i dynod 432hp 956tq. i was averaging 30-35 mpg. when i had my 50 gal aux tank i could squeeze out 2K to a fill up. now i lowered the truck 4" added a dana 80 drw with 3.73's, mild ported/oringed head, helix2 cam, timng at 19* and dropping a k31 below the 62. ill post mpg soon after i get paint and the bed back on.

Any 12V. 94-98

2wd
rc lb
stick
3.55's
stockish tires, little taller maybe
lower the truck

bump the timing, i think 18 is the magic number?
tweak the afc
3k springs
#10 plate
air and exhaust mods of course

have somebody make like some 40hp stix that are clean.

Thats my theory, havent got to try it yet.

My honest opinion is that the same setup with a 24V head would get better still.

I call BS

$.02 I got 96 dually b-1 tubo,cold air, plate slid, 4in ex, pulse manifold, with ex-cab 4 wheel drive geared 4:10 and steel 19.5's gettn 21mpg city/hwy.

I like Garmon's setup.... 700 HP with a 160 pump and a 1/2 ton.... 28 MPG flogging the piss out of it or 55 MPG driving like Grandma.

Mine is well over 600HP & I have no problem getting 25 without driving like grandma. With a little more moderate tune & driving, I'd be willing to bet 30mpg would be no problem.

3.73 would be your biggest hinderence without a Gear Vendors. A manual would be able to get 1-2 better depending on how you drive. Make sure the turbo is nice and tight and no boost leaks are present. Fuel out the pipe is no good.
