Coolant Y pipe

Seems I have a leak on upper y pipe. Going to order a non-welded replacement to install. Was reading about the lower Y possibly failing. Is it common to fail? Ive seen tons of posts about the upper, basically nothing about lowers. Worth ordering another y kit for it?

I’ve probably replaced 100 or more upper “y” and have never seen a failed lower. Definitely a good choice getting the cast piece over the welded.

That's what I wanted to know. Thank you.

I have seen the aluminum y's online. There welded but I assume your talking about the factory plastic parts right. I'm just curious.

Yes. Mine was still factory plastic. Just replaced it tonight. 20ish minute job. I got a machined one, didn't like the idea of a welded aluminum piece.
