'97 TCC lockup switch doesn't work

I bypassed the trans relay. Hooked a grounding switch to the orange/black wire.

When I ground the orange/black wire the TC engages only in third and OD, just like always. The only difference is it won't unlock. Build date of truck is 8-96. It seems to me that this wire isn't really what controls the torque convertor, It just changes some programming parameters.

Any Ideas???????????

where did you connect the grounding wire too? Did you cut it in two or just splice into it?

Spliced it and connected it through switch to chassis ground
