Pics of homemade transmission stands

I had the kid rock the truck for me but usually I have a pair of vise grips on the output shaft of the trans if it's out of the truck.

I'm going to start building the trans adapter today. I'll get some pics

Started cutting pieces tonight. The camera on my phone is scratched up

All legs are 9" long and the little tabs are cut at 1 5/16"

I'm out of 1 1/2" angle but I have a bunch of 1/4" thick angle 2"x 4' long cut offs. I'll make the top piece of each side and the mounting point from it.

I wanted to be able to turn it vb side up- just for ease of installing the front servo and valvebody. I thought it may be more balanced mounting it closer to the center of the trans. I may make a 2nd one for mounting to the bell face. This 518 I'm getting ready to start on only has 3 case tabs instead of 4. I have a 47rh I'm using for mock up

The one I made mounts on the bell, and allow the transmission to be spun so the VB can be laid on the top of the transmission.

I might do one that way still. I'll see how I feel about this one when I have it all bolted up.

That picture lol is much better. From the first pictures I thought you were just using one side of the transmission.

The more I look at the cast aluminum tabs the more I want to mount it to the bell face. At least I can lay a somewhat consistent bead now. I've only gone through 1 box of rod in my lifetime so far. I mostly just rack litte things together if I'm building something. I'm making sure the mounting points all rest flat on the case tabs so I'm not pulling on the tabs when I tighten the adapter down.

That does limit your mount to that case specification.
Looks good and robust.

Thanks. I work for a few different commercial building contractors and sometimes I get to haul the extra steel home at the end of a project. We use 2" angle for temp handrail. Lots of cut offs.

Once in awhile the front servos can give me problems . I have gotten the sealing ring in the servo cover stuck in the snap ring groove more than once. I tried compressed air and everything. Now I pack a bunch of assembly grease in the snap ring groove . I have to clean to the snap ring groove out but it beats getting the servo cover stuck. That's another reason I wanted the bottom facing up.

I've only tried rebuilding dodge trannies so far. I do have a 700r4 that needs a rebuild. I have the kit and some cheap upgrades for it. It's for my 92' s10 which I really need to get running so I can stop using my 12v as my only daily.

I mean a box of rod this size. Put some gussets on the side where the mount goes.

I need to adjust the engine stand mount arms to level out the tranny vs the holes that lock the adapter from spinning but other than that I'm happy with it. I still need to it up and paint it.

Here is my 47re project. I just made it with some scraps I had leftover from a previous project
