Portable Sand Blaster

Im looking for a portable sand blaster to do my truck frame, under side bed (bed is getting pulled off), and also under my cab. I know your not suppose to go cheap on tools but I need one that is affordable and will last at least until the frame is done. Any suggestions? Thank you

I've used quite a few of the cheaper propane tank style blasters that have worked fine every time I've used them. Alot of it is in the media too, just regular toy box sand worked quite well and wasn't as abrasive (pitting) as some other media however it had to be VERY dry to not clog up all the time.

I have a 90lb ALC pressure blaster. Got it from Northern Tool for around $500. I did an entire frame with it once. Once...

A 15cfm compressor can only push a 1/8th inch nozzle so no matter how big the blaster, you'll always be limited by cfm and nozzle size. Took me 8-10 hours to do a SCLB frame with the 1/8" nozzle.

You'll also need a good water separator.

Never ever use regular sand as it splits and releases silica dust, (black lung is caused by this).

I use coal slag from the local industrial supply, it's 99% silica free.

Sure is nice once you've sprayed paint though..
