Turbo numbers.
I feel like a total idiot to ask this.. But can some one please explain the three sets of number used when talking about turbos( 873/74/08-example). Thanks in advance..

66/71/13 = compressor inducer in mm/turbine exducer in mm/turbine housing volume in cubic centimeters. Sometimes the last number will be a/r ratio.

It seems that turbine exducer numbers are used for small/medium frame turbos. When ever you talk about S400, you refer to the inducer size.
Housing size is in square centimetres, but a lot of them are applied to housings that are measure in A/R (area/radius) ratios. Look at Bord Warners site, the S-series turbos are listed by A/R's (as well as Garrett and most others), and K-series are in cm^2 (as are most Holsets). But people will call an S300 0.80A/R housing a 12/13/14 cm^2 housing as it was comparable to a 14 cm^2 housing on an HX35.

Yeah, didn't think about s400's. Now that you bring it up, I wonder why that is?
