Got a chance to mess around this weekend. Bend the main hoop and one of the rear bars with some help. I won't bend much of it alone as I am new to it and that stuff is 6$ a foot.
Also got to do the cac tubes on the truck. Self Learned how to weld stainless. It's easy but does not like gaps. 2 of the better welds will never be seen and my worst weld is the most visible.
Also got the radiator in and located. Need to make top mounts still. Slowly but surly. Time is not on my side right now.

Looks great man. Wouldn't be right if your good welds showed and the bad ones were hidden!

I managed to get a bit done. This stuff is all tough and hard to get to fit well. I love being able to weld and fit it in my own though, kinda a point of pride for me. I have had great help with the bends though. That stuff would cost a lot to get good at.
Cage and wiring should be done by the end of the week. Fingers crossed

Yea man!!!!!! The fire just keeps growing. Let me know when you are ready to teach me a thing or two on that stainless. Did you weld while purging??
Any plans to dirt/sand drag??

Looking good buddy.
Forgive the ignorance, but why is the tubing $6 a foot? I'm sure it's DOM, but dang that's steep.
Maybe I just haven't bought tubing in a few years.

The welds were purged. As long as you have gas In the tube it didn't need constant flow as I forgot it once with no problem , but the pipe was already full. And biggest thing I have found with stainless is no absolutely no gap. The rest is normal welding. Minimal filler needed and it roles right in. Maybe one dirt drag a year. The rest is all drag racing.

It's actually chromoly tubing. 1-5/8 tubing. Just expensive to purchase but much lighter then mild steel. I am very fortunate to have good people to give me pointers when I get stumped. Those door bars would have been miserable to do alone

It's hard to tell really but I would imagine 50-70 hours from the time I bent the first tube. I am just kinda tired of welding on my head and positions of
The such. But that includes the seat mount, belt tabs deciding where shifter goes and all That fun stuff. I did a few things like wiring panel and cac tubes. Tcase linage. Alternator bracket ect ect in between. Going straight through I bet I could do the next in 40-60.
