boost issue

When ever I accelerate from a stand still or cruising with low boost, the truck blows heavy black smoke and take time to build boost. once it starts to build the turbo lights fine and no longer blows smoke or lack power. TRuck is completely stock with 205k miles.

Sounds like the vanes in the turbo are stuck or the actuator is not functioning. You can remove the turbo and clean them, but I would check the actuator first.
