Cat 3116 & Navistar 359.9 in scrap yard

No Savior among the flesh
Local scrapper has a Cat 3116 and a Navistar 359.9 (DT360?) that were in busses.
Both are ~1995 vintage.

I'm pulling turbos, possibly pumps and injectors.

Anything else worth saving?
Heads? Cranks? Externals?

I can get them complete, but the blocks have holes cut in them.

Wondered that also, local junkyard to me had about 10 ups trucks with 12 valves in them that had the blocks torched just like those.
 
In order to replace with a new non-EPA engine the EPA needs proof of destruction also. We have to do this with all engines being replaced on older equipment
 
I agree, it's a waste.
I can't imagine how fit to be tied I would be to see 5.9 or 6.7 Cummins in this scenario.

A few years back, I recall being faced with a rumor that John Deere(?) had a bounty on certain mechanical engines, because a guy tried to buy some 12 valves from me to meet some goals for it.
Of course, he left my place empty handed. ;)

Have a yard close to me, with a bus that was running, drove into the yard and then a hole was torched. 24v vp44 engine but 45,000 miles non 53 block.
 
I bought the engines mentioned above, due to having some core value and parts.

Just picked up a 190hp Cat 3126 today, same destruction, has ECM, all externals and a beat to crap Allison behind it.

Need anything, holler, they're going to get cored and scrapped for cast iron through the summer.

I have 3.
1 from the 95 Cat 3116.
1 from the 99 Cat 3126.
1 from a 2008 6.7 QSB, which is an A2000.
