Crank Pos sensor? Ona 2001
What is the information gathered from a Crank sensor used for on the ECM in an 01 Cummins?

The O1 and 02 trucks don't have a crank sensor, just the cam sensor.

On cummins quick serve with my serial number, it says my 01 has one.

Went and checked today, mine dosent have one, just a bolt and cover plate but my buddys 2000 had one.

Brett,
They use the same part number sensor for either. Meaning wether it's a crank sensor or a cam sensor, it is still the sensor part number.
At least on the CR it is which has both.

Right well cummins told me it had both and the cutaway pickture was pointing to the CPS by the starter. Good news I only have to modify for the cam sensor and the APPS, kickdown calbe for the trans for this 12v.

kinda keeping on topic, how are you modifying the coolant temp sensor, and the oil press sender to work with the wiring on the 01?
