T5 HOs. Don't look back. Get the six bulb versions and you can perform surgery on small animals. I love mine. I just have three 4-bulb, 4 footers in my whole shop. (45' x 45')

I have 9-8' T12 HO (110w per bulb) in my 30x30 attached garage.....just 4 of the 4' 6 bulb T5's would probably do the same.

the ballasts design is what keeps lights alive longer with programming of the start and shutdown.. The better the quality ballast the better it is for lamps life.
Makes the wife feel better so I leave 2 on all the time. Makes sense on the cycling on off. That's where most of the stess would be.
