CNC Mill for sale.

Going to trim down a bit to make room for some new stuff. Selling my Shizuoka SV4020. It's a 1995 model with Fanuc 16m control, but top of the line Japanese machine. 40x 20 travel 18 tool with box ways and direct drive 10k rpm spindle. I bought it new and used it every day for 4 years, but don't use it much any more because most of my jobs require a 4th axis. $22.5K.

Shame to get rid of this, but I need a second Lathe. This will free up a lot of room in the shop as well. What a sweet piece of top of the line Jap iron.

How steep is the learning curve to run one of these machines?

It's not hard to learn, but then I've been doing it a while. Machine is old(bought new in 1995), but very high quality. I rarely use it, but it cuts aluminum at 7500 rpm and 100 inches per minute, or roughs stainless at 600-700 rpm like it's candy. Excellent interpolation(makes round holes) as well. Hate to see it go, but hate to see it sit as well. Have an ATS 4th axis that was just gone through by ATS with new seals, solenoid, and encoder I can let go cheap. Haven't run it since I got it back(includes invoice saying it was repaired and tested by them. It's got a Fanuc drive on it as does the Shizuoka. Would need a 4th axis servo amplifier and hookup to complete.

I’d love to have something like that for side work, but I don’t think I’d ever be able to do enough to pay for it. Especially considering my schedule and limited current funds.

And We have a tractor we were trying to sell, but I think my old man would crap if I traded it for a mill

Costs a lot to move as well. Just moving it from inside the shop to on the truck parked in the street (a little over 100 yards away) runs just under $1 per inch. From there it's only $16 per mile for a 140 mile trip to Carson city NV.

What kind of power do they require? I figure 3 phase is mandatory
