12 valve intake plate and air horn.

Is there a reason guys aren't using the stock intake assembly off the 12valve versus buying a spacer or getting a intake with a riser milled into it?
My last p pump swap I did I used the spacer, I'm just trying to do something different this time.
Thanks.
