Bolt in sprag

When baking the paint on my 47rh trans case i noticed the outer sprag race had some in and out movement, even when cooled down to ~100*

Is it enough to pin it in place with two or three set screws from the pan side or is the bolt in kit from A&A necessary?

Trans likely wont ever see over 700hp

ive seen the bolt in sprag races crack at 1000+ hp, that said your probably fine below that power level

I tried drilling through the pan side of the case through the sprag to put roll pins in. The sprag is hardened and not possible to drill through with a hand drill. I did get about an inch in so put 3 roll pins in and staked at the case. Would not recommend.

If you have good quality drill bit and take your time with the tap, bolting in the factory sprag is pretty easy. Does take some time tho, the a&a drill guide is a must have to do this properly.
