Dura Grapplers
What do folks think of them? I don't really offroad, looking for some snow use, primarily highway driving.
285/75/17
Other tire to compare to is the terra grappler.

Ive heard good reviews out of then but have no first hand experience. I have a buddy that switched from Bfg AT's to them and says they are a better all around tire for farm use.

The Dura?
Look at the weight rating on a few of them.
Terra Grappler is 3195
Dura is 39xx. Seems like a good point for an SRW truck.

check out the toyo open country ATII as well.... they are supposed to be a new heavy truck AT tire that will last a ton of miles

Dura grapplers are a great street tire that will shock you with snow/ice traction. Ride is quiet and smooth.

They are soft...so drive smart and rotate often...every oil change. I got an honest 50k out of them on a 2wd dually...and I don't drive them till bald.

I don't drive hard in this truck. I like the load range rating of them. If I get 40K out of a set of truck tires I am happy. That is 4 years for me.
Think the terra grappler has a harder compound and would wear better?

That being said...looking at the Toyo. AT II...it looks like they made good changes! I would price those out too to see. That style tread pattern will be not as quiet...close...but will have a little more grip in loose snow or dirt.

To be honest, I like a tire that I can get from a national chain that is local to me. Pretty much leaves me to walmart, or discount tire.
So if I am out and about, I can usually get the tire serviced about anywhere. We have had great service from discount tire.

Terra Grapples suck....no traction and still wear fast. Duras are like a mini version of an all position all season big truck tire with lots of sipes and big deep channels continous around the entire circumfrence...

I see some suggestions, but the size I want is a 285/75/17, not everyone makes that size.

The only tires discount carries in that size is BFG M/T KM2 or Nitto Trail Grapples

Yea, I understand that, however they can get them in. I looked and cooper doesn't make the 285/75/17.
Of course I have a bad blowout and the discount tire doesn't have them in stock, could be an issue as well.
I am gonna keep the best 2 of the ones I have, mount one up for the spare, and throw the other in the shed.

I have about 4,500 miles on a set in that size and like them very well so far although no towing or much in the bed yet. Ask me in 6 months after I tow the TT for fishing winter steelhead.

I have 51000 on a set of DuraGrapplers on a 2007 Dodge 2500 4wd Cummins. Rotate and balance every 10k, had a set on a F350 with similar results.

I love these tires, on my second set. Great ride, traction and life. I hand mounted my tires and aligned the yellow dots with the valve stems, did not balance them and have yet a need to. Tires have 10k miles on them and i might go to the autoshop on Ft. Stewart and balance them.

I've been right along with you up until this point. I have personally had several sets run around our house and disagree. My dad has also sold many many sets out of his shop and we have had great reviews, however like all things, you will have some bad of course but still.
The Duragrappler is a very good tire from our experience. The nitto line of tires in general is very pleasing to say the least. Well... Except that mud grappler. Lol
