Fresh rebuild 47re, weak reverse, no engine braking

I just rebuilt my 47rh. I went with a PDD DIY kit. I now also have a 47re fmvb from PDD as well. There was two ports on the case that I had to epoxy shut for the RE valvebody to work in the RH. Everything worked perfect on jack stands, but on the ground it only moves like a foot in reverse. The forward gears work great but it does have a flare on the 2-3 shift when your deep in it. Also, there is NO engine braking at all. When the throttle is lifted it drops to like 1k rpm. I'm guessing I need to pull the trans again??
