Holset Hx-55 info/help

Just picked up a used Mack Turbo for super cheap. Problem is, the exhuast housing is huge, and i just want to figure out my options to tighten it up to run as a single... Specs:

Compressor-68 billet 7 blade
Exhaust-82
Mack part number : 2834366

Tag on compressor Housing:

Assy: 2834364
Serial: W 101016823
Customer: 21111305
Model: hx55
AR 25

I've seen from reading that you can run as small as an 18 cm housing on an hx55 T4 foot...im looking to try and find something like this but im not sure what will and will not work with the specs i've given. Obviously what i have is in no way streetable.

Bump. As of now were planning on sending an hx52 exhaust housing to
The machine shop to open up enough to fit my exhaust wheel. Thoughts?

There's a different version of that hx55 that's used on DD15 Detroits. That appears to be the same compressor, but a much tighter housing with 74mm turbine.

I've got the tag numbers if you want. I'm going to look at doing the same thing to a mack hx55.

Does anyone still have the number for JR Adkins? I'm sure he has something that will work.

If you plan to keep rpm under 3500 the 55s can work great but if your goals are up towards 4k or more, there are way better options.

Way better options because of issues with the shafts snapping or something else?

I had an hx 52 that was pinned on my old 12 valve with full cuts, 370's and 4k springs... That truck ripped but wouldn't turn more than 34-3500 Rpms for whatever reason. Never had an ounce of trouble with that turbo what so ever. I just got such a good deal on this one I figured the step up would be a nice little boost.
