What to do next.....

well im going to be having a big chunk of money from my tax return coming soon and i was pondering what to do with the majority of it....i will pay off some cards and a few other things first, but i will still have a good deal of money left. here's what i have been thinking...

head work: o-rings, marine gasket, head/block checked/decked, studs, valve job, springs???
^i have a prostreet 66/14 in the works and the studs are in the garage.

body work: i have a few rust spots that just make me cringe when i look at the truck (bottom of both doors and rear wheel wells - nothing major from what i can see but u never know till u get the paint stripped and its getting progressively worse)

can anyone give me their suggestions on what i should focus on? i am leaning toward the head work (want to protect the engine the best i can) but im not sure what all of my options are as far as having someone rebuild my stock head or buying a built one thats cut for orings and such....

What are your plans for the truck? I would say get the head work done then fix the body panels. You'll have to have your stock head checked when you pull it off if you want to use it.

I'd say stay away from a large single and stick with what you have or go to twins.

Sounds like a sweet setup you have there. I think I'd do the head studs, orings, deck it, then some port work while its off. The rest can go toward the turbo & I'd also do the 3 piece manifold with some port work there as well. That is gonna make that truck a whole different beast. You're in college....keep the rest in savings for beer fund.

well ive got the turbo and manifold already lined up and money set aside for it before the tax return comes...but it looks like head work it is.

how critical is it to get the engine block checked to match the head?? no one has mentioned it here but ive seen it stressed in other threads.

as for the beer fund...well yea not a bad idea but i got a "Vegas for my 21'st fund"!!!

That is funny!!! I would run a straight edge across the block also, but it should be ok.

Studs and a cam. The cam will help keep boost pressures down which should help the studs to do their job. I'd do that or ladder bars before pulling the head.

A cam would be a nice mod, but I would do the spring before a cam.

go for the cam and get a 12v lp then you can sell you fass for a little extra help or beer fundage.
