47 re no third gear!?

79 f250 with a 12 valve i
So at 17 I decided to take on the huge path of Cummins swapping a 79f250. Done everything through power driven diesel for everything drivetrain wise. I finally got the transmission in along with the motor everything is dome. Thre truck runs and drives. My only problem is it WILL NOT shift into their. It is a 47re full manual valve body. Fresh rebuild that I did myself. Along with the valve body. I have tried adjusting bands. Air checking the ports in the trans. Monitoring line pressure in between shifts. And nothing. Pressure does not drop in between shifts. One thing that does happen though is as soon as I shift into any gear besides park or neutral. The truck will stall if I don't stay in the throttle. But it idles fine in park and neutral. It shifts flawlessly between 1-2 but will not even TRY to shift into third. No pressure drop like I said and no slipping or anything of that nature. Any help is greatly appreciated because I'm stumped

It's a full manual valve body shouldn't the TV lever be useless nor pretty much? Right now it there's nothing holding it should I tie it back? I was under the impression that if it had enough pressure for the 1-2 shift it should have enough for 2-3 3-4

Yes, must tie it back or your line pressure will be way to low.
Sometimes its necessary to only pull it say 80% rearward if you run into it wanting to hang in gear on the shifts.
But for now zip tie it all the way back.

Alright just tried the TV lever and it worked. The 1-2 shift it firm and 2-3 is a bit smoother any way to make it alittle firmer? And thank you

Up your line pressure or drill that orifice in your vb a hair bigger for the 2-3 shift is all I know of. Upping your line pressure will increase the harshness of every shift though not just the 2-3

What did you do about the TV lever? Is it on the cable still, or just strapped fully forward?

When I got the motor it was just that, a motor. So I never had a cable. For now I have a pair of vise grips holding it back until I get the lever it is supposed to have lol

Manual valve body you dont want to control the TV lever with the cable, needs to be set stationary

On mine it works best about 80% pulled rearward on my adjustable turn buckle. But I also run 200psi line pressure.

Get your line pressure up to around 170plus
