What got you into pulling?
We basically dont do it much in the shouh, and that got me to wondering what the draw is in other parts of the country to see if there may be a way to spark interest here. I assume most folks have friends or family members that do/did it, but what got you to hook your expensive truck to the sled for the first time?

Well, its all roots from when I was a kid, going to watch the pulls with my dad and watching the smoker tractors and mod tractors on TV. But what really made me hook MY truck to the sled was watching videos of Dave Mitchell's truck, Gene Mohney, and Kent Crowder hooking to the sled, a long long time ago. I finally got enough gumption to hook to one in October of 04, its history from there.

Well I first bought a diesel back in 01 and started turning it up later that year.
I met up with some fellow diesel heads and one of them name Scott Burton was already sledpulling his 2001 6 speed.
Well I started watching him and of course I wanted to pull also but mine was a 2wd.
In about 2003 I started looking for a black Cummins 4x4 6 speed.
I really wanted an 01 or 02 sport and couldnt find one used to save my life.
I ended up with a 2004.5 Black LWB 4x4 and made it a "sport".
Anyhow, I first hooked to the sled in early 2004 and its been history every since I am at over 20 hooks right now.

I always pulled antique tractor pulls after I rebuilt my old 2 cyl. That got me into pulling in general. I got into truck pulling a few yrs ago when they had one at the county fair. There's nothing better than seeing a street driven pickup smoke and pull like the super stock tractors, IMO.

i started off with a 93 cheby 1/2 ton. way back in 99. just slowly built up to the old duramax. the diesel has offered me a lot of firsts too: first first place, repeat firsts, breaking something while pulling, driving all over boo foo to find the po dunck towns, and last but not least spending all this $ just to try and find the next limit of it

well, i wanted to build a big ass solid axle truck. to get the mileage, i bought a diesel, and just wanted to chip it to get a few extra horses.
After hanging out with the guys at Diesel Central, I got hooked. forgive the pun.
I love sled pulling, but I'm not giving up my 40" tires...=)

Went to my first tractor pull at the local fairgrounds and saw the stock trucks pull and thought, "l gotta try that to see how well my truck will do." Once I hooked up to that sled it was all down hill. 4 years of pulling and I just can't get enough!

id love to get into pulling but there isnt much of that around here in southern california. i can do the drag racing thing but id like to give pulling a try. maybe one of these days, when my truck makes more power, ill take a drive to a pull and try it out. i know it's probably not a smart idea as i will likely find myself driving east far more than i should. oh, and to you guys that say it's better than booty, . sorry, maybe because im 20, but as much i like doin stuff with/to my truck, it doesnt top the booty. well, maybe booty in the truck.

I got hooked last night. I loved it. Took first place and beat a TTS Extreme powered LB7 to boot! I'm giving it another shot on Thursday!
