Is there no one making upgraded bearings for those journal bearing Garretts ? They dont seem to last very long even at moderate boost pressures.

We have no trouble out of the Garrett journal bearing stuff. Which wheel is it you are running? Boreless or a through bore?

806709-30 , Scania OEM turbo, boreless. It lasted about 300 000 km, about 200 k stock 450 hp , rest about 660 hp, boost was stock 32 psi, tuned 35 psi and backpressure was under boost at max torque, at max hp a little bit higher than boost.

No kits available that I am aware of for the large frame boreless units.

This might have been faulty from the beginning, there is only 1 piston ring but 2 grooves, dont know if it matters, but someone has ****ed up in Romania.

I could still drive it but compressor and turbine wheels were done.

Is the majority of the wear on the exhaust side? Do you happen to have an oil restrictor?

Intake side, stock factory setup. Garretts are just built wrong. Cheaper than Holset, that's why Scania started to use them.
