Head studs Installation Help

ok guys who here has installed head studs and didnt bottom the holes? the reason i ask is beacuse im having my buddy do install my head studs beacuse i think its 2 big of a job 4 me and he isnt going to bottom tap the holes so i just want to know who here hasnt bottom taped there holes and has anything when wrong? the reasone im also asking is beacuse i can see someone not bottom tap there holes and have there truck desently fast and not really have 2 worry about it but my truck is planned to be running in the 11's and dyno around 700 hp on #2 then ill also be using nitrous so my turbo will be over 60 pounds of boost so do you guys think i run into problems with that power and not bottom taping the holes 4 the studs or has there been no issues caused by this?

I bottom tapped some of mine and only got another thread or two out of it which to me wasn't enough to justify the risk of snapping a tap off in the block. So 98% of mine aren't bottom tapped and so far so good.

Taps are so hard they are brittle but good lube and common sense goes a long way. Accidents happen too .

I bottom tapped mine, it is a total pain in the ass but is necassary to do the job right IMO. Just go 1/4 turn forward, 1/2 turn back then 3/4 turn forward etc etc. Once they are bottom tapped don't waste your time with compressed air, tape a straw to a shopvac and suck the holes out, then you will remove all the crud in there.

Why would you not bottom tap them, it only takes an extra 15 min and that way you know for sure you have CLEAN threads to work with. Kinda dumb if ya don't.
