I had the same thoughts.
Then I saw a price tag for a revmax 850 installed out the door and I felt my wallet cry.
I'm going g56 swap instead

Give Randy Reyes at Randy's transmissions a call here in Utah. He has built quite a few 68's in 700+hp trucks if I'm not mistaken. Very honest and good guy to deal with.

I know personally 3 people that have had lasting problems with Revmax, he has taken care of 2 of them, refunded and supplied them with a core. The 3rd one is still trying to get his fixed, changed tuning/tuners, fluid, etc..... I have had personal experience with Firepunk's 68 and Suncoast 68, both with good results. I would call and talk to both and see who you feel more comfortable with.
If you plan to go more than 650-700, I would 48re swap it!

Not too sure about the 68's.
RevMax and Suncoast seem to be popular for the high hp 68's

Suncoast for sure, but that commercial powertrain is intriguing for sure. Just a pain in the butt being they are in Canada.

Got a Revmax and have loved it. That being said though I MAY be getting problem with it.
I stated getting a soft code after I moved the batteries to the back. The code is related to the trans and 4 gear low fluid volume low or something along those lines. I'll have to look again to get the exact code and description. Everything I read points to a possible stuck open or closed solenoid causing a bad reading for CVI's in 4th, bad valve body or broken spring? Truck runs and shifts fine. No changes at all just dings on startup with no check engine light. As it warms up in temperature though it begins to get a bad rattle under throttle. I haven't been too worried about it since very soon it will be coming out to be refreshed anyways. Also just towed across the country with these symptoms with 5k in the u-haul trailer and then up to PA and back not skipping a beat besides the rattle. I did call Revmax but they need to have the line pressure and CVI's for 4th to really get an idea of what's going on and why it's throwing a code. Times like this make me wish I still had my black maxx so I could still see line pressure.
Now it could be injector, ring, bearing internal engine issue. The code could have came from moving the batteries and something not being exactly right. What makes me think trans is it doesn't do it in neutral if you rev it only under load. Haven't had the thing to tear into things because of moving and everything. Swapping engines with my other truck soon so once it's out I'll open the engine a little and the trans is going back to Revmax for a refresh then sold and I'm bumping down to a 550.

I run a revmax 850. I wasn't the original purchaser, I put around 30-35k miles on it myself and I beat the hell out of it. I'm round 600 hp or so. I just sent my transmission out to revmax yesterday because of a failed ORC, so a full rebuild of wearable parts are due. I'm running Dave Matthews tunes and honestly I have no complaints about the trans

No problem. They came out with a 700 very recently! It's about $2k less than an 850
It makes me cringe every time I watch that video...

It's a 68.... your wallet will cry regardless. It's just a matter of how many times it's going to cry
