Valve Guide Cutter

Went to put together my head that I’ve had ported and fireringed and came to realize my machine shop did not machine the valve guides for the newer style top hat valve seals.

Problem is I don’t feel like bringing it back. As the shop I have the block at is a 5 hour round trip.

I cant seem to find the specs anywhere on what cutter to use and the measurements. I don’t feel like reinventing the wheel and I know someone here has had the same issue before!

I think this cutter:Cutter for Spring Seats (Cuts to 1.440 ID)
and this arbor: Arbor/Pilot for Cutters: 5/16 Diameter
the cutter will slightly enlarge the spring pocket but only by a hair. anyone else have part#'s that work?

I’m also curious about this, I already have had valve seals rise up so I may have to do this also.

I bought the ones I listed, I should be using it this week so I'll let you know how it works out. it will just clean the lower shoulder off so you can get them to fit. it will also move the spring pocket down if you need to, but I don't plan on doing that.

Any luck? I thought the top of the guide also needed the OD turned down slightly?

I've cut down the first two, seems to work great. I haven't had a chance to get back to it. its "slightly" larger than the original seal, so you could run originals still if you wanted to. It does open the spring pocket up just a fuzz, but hardly at all.
I gotta figure out where to host a pic so I can post it here.
