Medium/Heavy Duty Scan Tool

Friend of mine is looking for a good scan tool to work on medium and heavy duty trucks. Something with a pass through that uses a laptop is preferable. What all do you guys recommend?

We use JPro at work and our mechanic has been very happy with it. It will work on stuff down to F250 size and will connect to our Deere and Case equipment. The equipment side is very limited but it will show basic information.

The initial cost for the program and laptop with all available features was around $4500 on sale. There is also a yearly fee, but I would need to look up that cost.
