What size Nitrous shots?

Early 2004 with 235 motor.
  • 64/71/13 with s480
  • Wicked 180's or so
  • STOCK NEW CP3
  • ARP 625 studs
  • Hamilton Valve Springs
  • Capped Rail
  • PPE Hot +2 with LITE Timing
  • Edge EZ
  • Have a TST 49 but I doubt I have the fuel to add duration with it.

Here is my question, what size shot or shots can I use and at what boost should the shots come on at? I make 75-80psi overall and I can adjust the 64 waste gate to get it lower.

Should I have PPE send me a LOW timing tune for the Nitrous? Basically I want to make a mid to low 11 pass for a diesel event.

Wastegate actuator of course. Was just going to turn the rod a few turns out to lower the overall boost.

Just received the LOW timing PPE Hot +2.

Heard about the NX 2 stage nitrous with controller is pretty good and best bang for the buck.

Well I ran the truck with my Wicked Stage 3 pump and 62/65/13 + 480 with some Flux 3's last year.It wouldn't run anything faster than a 12.2 I think. It welded the clutches together on my 3rd run and ever since haven't been to the track.

I was running 12.4's @ 107 constant start of last year with just a 64/71/13,Flux 3's, stock old cp3, and a Walbro 392 Smarty/Edge EZ.

I since then upgraded to a 64/71/13 with 480. ARP 625's and Valve Springs, Raptor 150 but still 3/8" line, Wicked 180's, PPE Hot +2.

Should I upgrade my line to 1/2" line or won't make a difference? I would do dual pumps but right now, the funds won't allow it and the kit I want hasn't been done being built(still figuring electronics out on it). But, I CAN PUT MY WICKED STAGE 3 CP3 back into my truck for this event.

WHAT TO DO GUYS?All this money and still not into mid to low 11's at my sea level elevation.

Also, is there anyone else running a V10 stall converter from Goerend? Where do you guys lock up at? I did my first 4wd launch with the new transmission and if I lock up in 2nd high,it bogs the motor down pretty bad to where you hear the turbo's bark.

I was thinking about locking up in 1st on the top end. Or is that going to bog me down in 2nd gear? Maybe the PPE Hot +2 has something to do with this damn launch, but it launched pretty damn hard at only 10 psi.

Im running that same converter..I launch at 25-30 psi and lock as soon as i hit the throttle...If i launch at 10psi its pretty lazy to light turbos up to 330ft. I have 4.10s and 66/74(.85ar) over a s4t.....If i come out at lower boost, its a balancing act of when to lock the converter..That converter IMO wont couple until after peak hp and dramatiacally after peak TQ so, my advise is to lock it right out of the hole and spray it light em up...start small with a .68 jet...or come out at higher boost.

Nitrous express has a nice controller that is reletively cheap... NXD5000 boost reference controller...http://www.nitrousexpress.com/Pages/nxd5000.htm
If your launching at 10-15psi, set it up to ramp in over a couple seconds so it doesnt get the "big smack".. You may want to take it a little easy on the spray without a decent wastegate.

The dual stage NX kit is a bargan at $900....comes with all the big lines, solenoids, 15 lb bottle, and controller--all of which most people end up upgrading to later. I'd start with two .80 jets and work up from there. Make sure you have a bottle heater to run at least 1000-1100psi. Mid to Low 11s should be no problem then, even triggering it in the higher gears.

Yes Joel, I am locking up with a manual switch. Never really liked the co-pilot crap. I guess Monday I will go and see a few setups on Nitrous. $900 for a dual stage dual solenoid setup is cheap. But, that is a a little out of my budget at the moment.
