Blew up my ED s363 need advice
Hey everyone, Looking for turbo advice. I just blew up my ED billet 63/68 .91 T4 and Im just hung up on where to go from here. Truck is a 5.9 tuned by paul cato via mm3 and it was fun to drive. 100% overs turned down, nv5600, steed second gen t4. Goals are just a great all around truck. I don't daily it but when Its running I do drive it a lot. Also I don't want a bigger clutch than the sb3250, it holds power and easy to push in, no rattle so 650hp-700. Ive had a built auto and didnt care for it like my 6speed. I don't want a laggy turbo and i feel if i step up to a s400 this will happen. I don't pull alot of weight, 20ft enclosed trailer in the summer. Not sure if i over spooled my 63, I did bark it doing 80mph at 50psi. maybe I will put a bov on truck. Don't want a gated housing, I will just settle down on the peddle haha.
s464/83 .90 from carlos. I feel this is an outdated design most ppl say step up to 467 yet that is more than I need. I know fleece 463 is same as what carlos is selling. its a cast wheel. just scared it will be laggy and i will regret it.
s364.5sxe/73 .91 t4. Im leaning towards this.
s363/69 .91 5 blade. I just kinda want one. I know they're overpriced. not sure if it will gain me anything over an sxe. Also my truck is basically tuned for this.
any help is appreciated. Thanks everyone

It was at 50 psi. I know I’m stretching it without a gated housing. They were turned down and she was clean.

Why are you so against a gated housing?

If you're not going to run a BOV on a manual trans truck I think you'll kill another S300 in short order. A good 464 with a .90 housing shouldn't be terribly laggy.

I didn't think it was that far off? Dump the charge air pressure, save a turbo?

I'm not saying that it wouldn't help at all, I just don't think it's worth the cost for his application.

Guess I shoulda clarified, really depends how it’s being used. If you’re banging gears and barking the charger on every shift that charger is gonna see some abuse, just towing and cruising it should live fine without one.

Feel free to send the trashed turbo in for analysis. We do free inspections and failure analysis. Would certainly help in choosing what to do next.

That’s for the comments. I was thinking I’d try another 63/68 and run a bov. It was just fun to drive all around and I don’t want to put a bigger clutch in than 3250. Also I had the factory oil feed line. I have a fleece -6an setup I will throw on. Do y’all feel a s300 can survive at 50psi for a few years?

How did you get in touch with him? I blew up one of his and sent it back to him and now can't get in contact with him.

Wondering this also, I have heard people have given up and gone else where because he doesn't respond or is too busy.
I also thought or heard someone else was doing the turbos, engineered turbos or something.

That's Chris's company. He and Engineered Diesel split from one another.

I finally put the s465 on and have everything fixed up. Charger is awesome with my 100% overs and nv5600. I don’t notice any lag over what I had on before. It has that s400 whine and she lights right up. Super happy with it. Was a mess getting that old innercooler cleaned out and was tired of spending money so I didn’t buy an aftermarket one. Lots of gasoline and flushes, ran it for a while before hooking Intake pipe up to air horn. Still nervous something may be in there but I couldn’t hear anything when I would shake it. I will be honest, I’m not that impressed with fleece swap kit. The downpipe wasn’t swedged enough, was angled too far down so I had to put a 4” flex joint in. Had to bend ac lines a bit, removed the grid heater relays which I will relocate. The manifold doesn’t sound that much different than the steed 3rd gen t4 I had and it and it was just a cleaner fit. So for an s300 I’d go back to what I had. Can’t beat how clean that fit was.
And to contact Chris just call or text number on his page.
