Fly cutting Pistons

Is it ok to cut just the exhaust side? All the aftermarket pistons I see look cut on the intake and exhaust side. Just trying to figure out why they would do that since there's no intake valve clearance problems on say a 194/220 in a commonrail.

I'd just do the exhaust if that's all you need. Keep the compression up as much as possible. That'll be about 3 grams at .030 deep.

ive seen lots of gas pistons only fly cut for one of the two valves

It seems odd your exhaust is closer than your intake. Unless the cam Intake center line is around 103 or more.
