I think it was a little over $600. I purchased some other items at the same time and can not recall exactly what the impact was.

That's still not horrible. I just got to see how much I use an impact to justify the cost. I'm finally learning that in life

Matco's 18v Infinium impact has about the same amount of power as the CT7850. Ingersoll Rand just released their W7150 model which has a higher torque output than both the Snap On and Matco.
If you got the money to burn, any of the big three will get the job done. They're basically air guns in battery form. They're amazing tools!

Dewalt 18v 1/4" impact. I hung sheetrock for 3 years and this thing was a beast. 1 battery would last all day long with ease. It's been dropped off ladders, kicked around, had sheetrock dropped on it. I just used it to build my deck and it never missed a beat. I've also got a Dewalt 18v 3/8" impact that's a beast as well and makes working on vehicles a cake walk.

The Milwaukee M18 (full size) is a great gun! I owned one for a while and it was one of the better purchases I made. I've always told me people that the Milwaukee is the best bang for the buck cordless impact. It's smaller/lighter/more compact than the Snap On, but with about 90% of the power for half the price.

Get an 18v brushless Hilti. Best on the market right now. I have been demoing all the new impacts from every brand at work for the last 6 months and Hilti is the best bar none.

They ain't cheap that's for sure but do look good on paper.
Do you think buying the 159.99 1/4 hex Milwaukee then later adding both dedicated (3/8 $119, 1/2 $169) tools only is worth it? I would have less than the cost of a Snapon but would have 3 tools instead of one. It just seems the better route for now. Then if not good enough later on look into a brand above. So what if a little under power it's half the price.
I won't purchase any till I'm 110% confident on my initial purchase.
Thanks again guys!

I say go for them. If its that tough, I put a breaker bar on it, impacts are more of a luxury for me.
I use my 10.4v 3 times more than my 18v. Just for ease factor and able to get in more spots.

that was the exact conclusion I kept coming too. No sense spending huge now for one tool if I won't use it that much. I use a lot of hand tools and it don't bother me that much. Just trying to speed up the in between process of taking the nut off. Thanks bub on that one.

Well did you ever get one ?
I know it is a old thread but I have a Dewalt impact driver with the slip chuck,I must say that thing impressed me.My step dad is a big time dry wall man and had one,I liked it so much I went and got one while we was dry walling my living room. It's new home is in my tool box and is used for EVERYTHING on my truck.I have the 20V lithium and it will last a good while, but when that battery goes dead its done. What I am saying is there is no slowing losing power then dying.
I now have a tool box with a bunch of ratchets that never get used like they should.

I bought a ton of hand tools and will be buying a 1/4 drive one then adding the dedicated systems on next pay check. Been working on my crazy truck build.

I wouldn't trade my snap on cordless for anything. The dewalt was nice but once I bought the snap on there was no turning back

I have the Snap-On 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 impacts. I couldn't be happier with them after ruining a few other name brand ones over the past few years. Solid stuff but expensive.

And who would that be Forrest?? Im pretty damn 100% sure that they are made by Snap-on in thier own plant right here in the USA in Murphy, NC. They have some global parts in them, but they are designed, and assembled here right in the USA by Snapon, by the way this information came straight from the guy who heads the cordless power division of Snap-on, Rodger Isdetts. The 18v Li-ion line we have at the moment is good, and it's about to get better, we have the CT7850 1/2" gun that is currently rated at 780 ft. lb of BBT, there is a new 3/8" gun coming out early next year that will be using the same 18v li-ion battery as the 1/2" gun that will be rated a 280ft. lb. BBT. they are developing a new 3/8", and 1/4" cordless ratchets that may get released around the same time, i saw some protoypes at the tool show for that, and a new cordless grinder that they are working on, it looks like neat stuff!
