02, PPump 24V build.

Modified that plug today for a fuel pressure port, its now got a #4 flare sticking out of it. Using a oil drain fitting is a good idea.

Never thought of cutting the front of the head off, good idea. Do you have a link to a picture of a head modified like that?

Did a bit more today, rocker arms were all taken apart and inspected, pjt pack together with assembly lube. Valvetrain is now all together and lashed. Pump is on, timed at 18 degrees.

Lift pump, fuel lines, fuel return, p/s pump and lines, mounting the computer, are the next big jobs.

Here is a pic of head #1. I wanted to keep the mounting points for the APPS intact. Head #2 I just lopped the whole corner off. Its still a pain in the ass to remove the pump, especially with the oil feed on the inside.

Same here, not easy but a swivel and long extension work well. When you get the computer relocated please post pictures. I spun mine down and away but inner fender does sound like a cleaner look.

will do, extending the sensor wires will be a pain, but it will be worth it to have it out of the way

Little more progress, everything else is broken down so progress has been slow.

Fuel system is complete, seeig that we arnt really going for performance here, we have a stock 12v fuel system on the truck, minus the fuel heater. A return line was bent up, and the stock 24v banjo fitting was used on it. 12v hard lines needed a bit of tweaking, bit worked fine.

Streached the return OFV spring about a 1/4 of an inch.

Throttle bracket is also made, its a portion of the 24v apps bracket cut off and bolted on the back of the Shut down solinoid bracket, works nicely. Need to mount the exhaust brake switch still.

Fuel pressure port...

You can just barely see the throttle cable, and bracket. And the piston pump.

Industrial valve cover modified for the studs up front, needed a bit if clearance because we did not bottom tap the block, went overboard just because it looks cool

yep, besides wiring.

my father took it upon himself to totally re-do the harness in the engine bay, looks like a bomb went off with wires, almost half of it is routed crazy or just plain unneeded

but besides putting the fronjt end back together, its about done

slow progress, about a days worth of finishing up loose ends to go, the whole idea with this swap was to address other issues at the same time, so thats what is taking the longest...

got a set of flexalite fans, still need to wire them with an aux override.

she runs!!

few questions, do the industrial 175hp pumps have a weird gov assembly or are they the same as a 160 pump? feels a tad anemic and im thinking it may be related to gov springs, right now its 4k's set at 4 clicks

next, Ive been hearing rumors that a ppump 24V like this may like more timing?
its an 02 HO engine, IDK what that has for pistons but at 18 degress when you blip the throttle from idle the truck smokes white, but it runs perfect? injectors are scheid 100 horse set at ppump pop.

runs about as well as it did with the vp44, but im expecting a tad more power, guess it needs some tuning

great thread, thanks for the pics!

thanks! ill have a few more pics. as we finish it up, most impressive part is how quiet it is, with the lack of the fan, the cam, and the lack of the VP, the engine sounds smoother, throatier.

need to get drivability up to par, we have a fuel supply issue, the pump was pushing 35 psi of fuel before we went for the first test drive, 15-20 psi after we came back, something seems plugged. it may be all the issue we are having with the engine feeling sluggish

I will probably check the timing tomorrow, I doubt it slipped, but i clearly need to confirm that

not sure but I daily drive on 24*, mine is an 01 HO

nope, just for more room in the engine bay, they were rotted, but not that bad.

truck is running good, burning through the stock clutch.

I'll throw some pics up tomorrow of the finished product.

timing at 22 deg made the truck wake up

Looks great! My VP-44 is pulling a 2016 code and is giving me a dead pedal. Looks like I'm going to start collecting parts for a swap.

What did you use to weld the notch in the intake horn up?
