Pics of f450 Fummins
Ok, here she is.
Has a slight fuel leak from top of fuel filter. Tightened up the banjos, will check later today.
PO thinks there are 80hp injectors in it. AFC has been opened before. He doesn't know of any other fuel related mods.
Engine won't boost above 18psi, falls on its face early, but tach non-op so cannot see at what rpm its doing it. Driving home last night at 65 it did not sound like it was screaming high rpms, maybe due to the 19.5s on the 6"w rims. 70 miles home the fuel gauge barely moved. Very pleased. Was considering a newish Dodge but this fell into our laps

Thank you, been lookin it over this morn....
Fixed the fuel leak
Turbo is a WH1C, took a couple pics of it. Is this the stock turbo from a 97 with an Auto trans? Which is supposedly what this motor came out of.
That is a $6500 custom bed. Tires are new. One dent on the pass door, needs a cleanin, but it's already real close to being 100%

Sounds like it's a stock timed and governor spring engine still. Have someone that knows what they're doing set the pump up, will be a different truck.
Like that flatbed!

I built this F-450 a few years ago, $10000 won't touch it
Was offered $20k right after I got it finished, turned it down and it's still not for sale.
Engine is a fresh built 5.9 12v with 215 pump and a few mods, have it tuned to around 325-350 hp for dependable towing
While the engine was out we also did a 07 coil spring front conversion, due to the wider axle we used the F-550 donor trucks fenders and flares, didn't want to drill holes in the good set of F-450 fenders.
Thus the reason it has F-550 badges

Having seen this truck in person, I will attest to the fact that it is one of the best done swaps I’ve ever seen.
I’m excited to see Kyle’s (biggy238) swap come together.

Nice build, love these excellent trucks being made better...... There is something about these early 2000 f450s with the manuals, they just seem made for the Cummins, parts are cheap. It will be less than $500 to change the rearend(D80) out to a 4.10, labor included. And it retains its 4.88 gvwr)). This might be the hotshot truck made in heaven. Is it unrealistic to expect 10mpg pulling 20k+ with proper tuning and all systems working efficiently? That would be amazing to me.

Thanks bracker8040!
I enjoyed meeting and talking with you, also tell your brother the machine we purchased from him is doing a great job.
NetKarts: Thanks!
Mine isn't completely tuned but averages 10-12 mpg hauling the loads I pull which is all local with 3.73 gears, once I get it completely tuned to my liking it should gain a couple mpg empty and have a little lower egt's, I have the fuel set to a max of 1250 degrees egt at full throttle loaded.
Don't expect to gain any mpg loaded with final tune but should gain a little more pulling power at the same mpg.
These are the loads I normally pull, gcw runs from 25-30k lbs
I'm not sure about the F-450 2wd chassis but all 99-04 4x4 chassis came with the larger Dana S110 rear axle.
3.73 ring & pinion, bearing set and new tone wheel cost me $1700 and I did the work, 4.10's cost more.
While the front axle was apart for gears and seals it was also a good time to replace the ball joints, axle u-joints, hub units and inspect all of the steering linkage.
By the time we had it back together I'd spend around $3k on parts for both axles.
If I was building a 2wd I'd go with 4.10's or 4.30's.
With 4x4 I can use low range in the t-case for off road use and for the mostly local 55 mph driving I do the truck runs 55 mph in 5th direct at 2200 rpm.
Rpm's are a little high just cruising along in direct but I can pull most small hills and overpasses without needing to down shift.
For those that do more interstate driving where they'd be using OD most of the time 4.10's or 4.30's would be better towing gears.
