I found a '95 12v, complete with turbo, with 172K for cheap.

What do I need to look for, or look out for, when I go over to check this engine out. I'd like to get one to build up.

Comments??

Well first make shure there arent any holes in the block anywhere and make shure You can turn it over. That would be a good start

does it run? If so start it and make sure you done have a bunch of blowby or any strange noises. With only 172k on the clock i doubt that motor will have any issues....well unless it was beaten on.

Something about a 53 block that's prone to cracking...avoid that.

the 53 block was made in 98 possibly 97 but 98 for sure.

Drspeed, just saw your truck, SICK!!!!:rockwoot:

Make sure you get the KDP fixed. It wont have the 53 being a 95.

KDP is actually a problem on very few engines. I would suggest taking care of it but if its not done, no biggie.

The KDP needs done for sure! It can wipe out your ENTIRE motor. Do it. It's easy. It can be done super easily with the motor out.

My 24V experienced the KDP failure. It's not just the 12V's.

The 53 Block could be found in '98's '99's and '00s. They were rarer after '99 but the KDP and '53's have the possibility of being in any B motor that is not a Common Rail.

the 53 block was made from 96-01 and the nuber 53 is stamped on the side of the block right above the oil pan towrd the front of the engine on the drivers side usually there is a wiring harness that goes almos right over u will see it if u move the harness up about a half an inch if it does not say 53 it isnt a 53 block and u are safe
