The 16035 has flutes on the bottom that make it easily removable with the right tool.

I thought. Maybe it had a different micron rating.
You'd think they would just combine the two if that's all that's different.
It'd benice to have something to grip on when trying to remove the 3894.

I find that a wrap or two of duct tape around the filter BEFORE you put it on gives you enough grip to take it off by hand... Get good duct tape though as its not all created equal. I like the black 3M, its softer and makes it easier to grip, some of the cheap stuff is slick.

That's a good idea. Its usually my own fault, I over tighten everything. I've broke many bolts and parts by over tightening.
Whoever suggested writing the mileage and date on the filter.
