Fuel Tank
Ok I am going to remove the 35 gallon tub under the truck and put a smaller on behind the axle ........................... I still drive the truck on the street so I figure 20 gallon's or so ..... My questions are these
Plastic or metal
In the bed or underneath
With or w/o foam in it
Thank you in advance.

I got an easier solution. Just put less fuel in it. But if you want to change it, I'd do plastic under the bed. Not sure what the foam is about though.

For racing its better if you move it from the one side to a center location and behind the axle helps weight transfer. If you have foam in the tank (fuel cell) it cuts down on the air bubbles in the fuel.

I would consider it from a little different standpoint- how fast did you want to go and are you driving this one on the street? If it's possible to be as fast as you want to be without changing the fuel tank setup, then why change something that works well? Drop a bulkhead in the factory tank and that's it. If you really need it, then I'd go with a recessed metal tank in the surface of the bed. Then you'd retain the truck bed if needed and it's easy to fill. JMHO, of course.

I want to move it to help with weight transfer ....... I dont need the bed as we have the 2003 for the hauling jobs. I am leaning towards it being mounted below deck ... I dont have a spare so I figured that would make a good spot.

Then my vote would be a metal tank recessed into the bed floor behind the axle.

Travis runs a Summit-brand 15gallon aluminum tank and it has held up so far. I believe the rear sump is -8AN.

ive had good luck running aluminum not metal. and in the bed over the axle in the bed of truck for extra traction . Also always run the foam this will keep fuel from moving and getting air in lines . This mounting location is also good for gravity feeding fuel pump.

this is a tank from jegs, 20 gallon, has two number 8an feeds and one 6an return, i usually put a Y adapt to convert two number 8an to a 10 an.Tank is only about 130 dollars. you will need a k+n vent tube also.
