NV5600 to 47RE Whats it going to take.....

So a member and i are looking at swapping transmissions and trying to gather all the information we can get.

As far as electronics goes, it is going to be a ratchet shifter, so that takes care of that. If the ratchet gets old to Daily Drive, a PCS will be used.

Our biggest concern of the entire swap is mounting.......

Will it bolt to the crossmember? Engine? T Case? Drive shafts need leanthened or shortened?

We have a bit of time before we do the swap and am looking for any advice that we can get!

Just swap transmission cross members. But either one should work. The 5600 uses the far rear bolt holes and the auto uses the front set of holes.

They will both bolt to either engine, no problem.

Either swap transfer cases, or pull each apart and swap the input shafts to match the output shaft splines of the transmissions.

And depending on driveshaft configuration, I'd just swap with each other. If not, then yes you will have to shorten/lengthen rear driveshafts. (On the front driveshafts, you can swap each other as they will both bolt to either truck)

We were talking about swapping the inputs on the T cases and that should work.

But It does look like we will have to fiddle with the drveshafts as we have different cab configurations so the shafts cant be swapped over. But I guess thats a good way to just get the rebuilt while they are out to have freash shafts in it.

I am glad the cross members will work as that will save a good chunk of time getting the main components swapped over!

When I swapped the g56 out of my 08 to the 05, and the auto from the 05 to my 08, that's what I ended up doing. Then got lucky when I threw in the 5600, the holes in the rear of the cross member worked with no mods at all.

Ok, throwing a wrench into the equation.......

The 47 is currently hiked to a DHD. Compatability of that? Still swap shafts?

You'll both have to just swap your input with a new one then.

Each keep your t-case and buy the input needed to install. Will make the driveshaft modifications easier also.

Input shafts I meant in this post. Split the cases and swap the shafts. Saves y'all money. Just need to grab silicone to seal them back up when you put them back together.

Should be. I swapped three around from an nv4500/5600 to a 48re to a g56. They all interchanged inside the cases. Just make sure the seal in the transfer case matches the shaft you use.
