241dhd long input shaft needed..

I've got a 241dhd from behind a 47re, and I need the input to put it behind the 47rh. Anyone got one laying around?

I wasn't aware of this either.. I thought auto to auto, no problems.. Not so.. To confuse things even more, there are 3 lengths of 23 spline for the thin bearing, and 2 for the thick bearing..

Geared2death,
I'll have the transfer out this weekend (again!) and get the bearing info, then give you a call..

Here's one listed on Ebay.
DODGE JEEP NP231 NP241 transfer case 23 spline input shaft cummins dld automatic | eBay

DHD or DLD can both use the same input, so I cant alleviate any confusion on this.

Mark.

I was under the impression one of the differences between dhd and dld was the mainshaft diameter.. Probably wrong, but I do know I ordered one online, and the pilot hole is too small for the pilot bearing I pulled of the original input.. And it was sold as a DHD fitment.. The one on your ebay link looks to be the same as the new one I ordered, hole too small..

Did you ever find the right input shaft for a 47RH/NP241DHD? I am looking for the same thing.

I have 2 dhds in my shop right now. One is from a 96 5 speed and the other is from a 02' auto. The 02' is the one I'm sticking with my 94 rh. Idk if the tcase from the manual trans shares the same shafts as the 94-95 but it is longer

I definitely need that longer one.

Are the diesels supposed to have a 23 spline output/input shaft? I figured they would have the 29 spline shafts. I have a 23 spline shaft.

Automatics all came with 23 spline, manual transmission both NV4500 and NV5600 came with 29 spline setups. In the world of mega HP automatic transmissions, we upgrade to aftermarket 29 spline output shafts and swap the t-case input to match. Unfortunately, for the 47rh, there is not a 29 spline option so you are stuck with the 23 spline setup. That said, the 23 spline setup is pretty dang strong and most street trucks do fine with the 23 spline billet shafts.

Last winter, I went to install a 231 DHD transfer case that was behind a 46RH, onto a 46RE. The input shaft was too long, so the mounting surfaces were about 3/4” from mating up to each other. From memory, I ended up ordering the shorter input but used the wide bearing that was in the DHD transfer case, even though the input shaft was supposed to use the thinner bearing. I tore apart a 231 DLD and thought I could swap inputs, but the pilot size for the main shaft was different. I may remember more when I get to the shop.

I was incorrect. I was swapping in a 241DLD. Here is what I bought to switch transfer case from 46RH to 46RE. This is in a gas truck, but should apply the same to the diesel.
