We have been kicking around the idea of building a 2wd and we were wondering which is better a reg cab long bed, or an extended cab short bed ( which I think is the same as a reg cab long bed) or an extended cab long bed or do u think it makes a difference?

same as in the 4wd classes. They all work just as good as the other when everything is setup right, although things seem a little better with the longer wheel bases.

Assuming your talking about a 2nd Gen Dodge, the Ex Cab short bed has around 4" longer wheel base than the reg cab long bed unless its a standard wheel base cab and chassis truck with the reg cab, then it has the same wheel base as the ex cab short bed.
