I have 2 hx35 and 1 hy35 turbos. Both HX's are from 12Vs. 1 needs rebuilt. Doesn't seem to have shaft play but won't spin freely. It was left open sitting for a few years. Make offer. Other HX is good, bought off CompD a few months ago but never used it. Very minimal shaft play, no in and out. HY came off my truck with 158k on it. No shaft play but does have oil on the intake side. Good for core at least. $100+shipping. I've also got a Garrett Turbo off a Detroit 8V60. Not sure specs as it has no ID tag but if anyone knows these turbos and would like to make offer, I'd pry let it go. Was rebuilt but never used. It appears to be a T6 foot with a 5" exhaust outlet. What's the difference between the HX & HY turbos?

The BIGGEST difference is that the HX35ws have a 12cm^2 exhaust housing, while the HY35ws have a 9cm^2.
Virtually nothing externally interchanges, either.

The dead giveaway to ID one from the other is that the HY35w's housing is obviously way smaller in appearance.
The HY35w also uses a very noticeable extended fitting for the vacuum/pressure line on the wastegate actuator.
