Few Questions

Ok since I have started my project I have a few questions for you all.

1. What trans would you run auto or stick?
2. What type of tires
3. Gears

I have a line on a few older first gens that I've been looking at cheap. I'm thinking of starting off and just using a 727 auto and running 5.13 gears with 33 or 35" STS truxs(sp). I figure I will not have allot of money in it this way so we can see how it pans out. Open to suggestions from all of you.

Andy

Go with the 33" and 5.13 My vote is for the NV4500 2nd would be a good gear for the truxs they bite hard.

That was my initial plan was to run a 4500 but trying to find one right now is crazy. That will probably be the setup that I run though will be 33's on back with some tiny drag wheels up front. Drug it out of the barn today and did a little measureing and inspecting. I need to pull the body up so I can have my buddy box the rest of the frame on it. I think I found a rear for it so that maybe a plus. Does anyone know how much narrower the cab and chasis rear is compared to a standard truck rearend?

The cab and chassi rear should be close to being the same the duely pickup rear is alot wider. The smaller tires in front is going to look mean.

I need to do some measureing on a few things. I can find cab and chasis rears cheap all the time and I'll have to move perches anyway so that doesnt matter. If they are wide enough I'll just pic up one of those. I think it should look mean now only if it pulls mean when done. I also found a set of lowering keys for the torsion bars so I should be able to get the nose on the ground.

The torsion bars are the easyest to play with for sure.
My frame is mounted straight to a solid front axle. And the rear axle is solid also

That is cool Dale. Maybe one of these days if we get this to catch I'll be able to build one like yours.

I have had a couple of email about this class wanting to know if they could use modified gassers.all they would have to do is use a full size body on them not a midsize like Ford rangers,S10,Dakota,s.I hping this will take off faster once we get our's out there running and do some exibition runs.
As soon as I get my garage walls and ceiling painted I'm working on know the chassi is moving out of the trailer and in to the garage.I will be taking alot of pictures of the build.I have some pictures of the man that built mine.

I like that big roller/wheelie bar on the back!! Either I've never paid enough attention or just never seen one but looks like a good idea to me! Ones I remember seeing were more like skis or flat pieces of metal rather than a roller or rollers. I like it though!

That is the only truck that has the roller on it for wheely bars the CMPA/Tri-State Truckpullers are the ony ones that will let you run a roller set up like that.all the rest if groups that run those kind of chassies onlu alow Skid plates that are 5" x 5" steelplate.I like the roller myself it don't dig in and slow the truck down.
