ok got the motor in i took a short block 6.7 and put it in my 5.9 with 12v rods and for some unknown reason the rods are grazing the cam..... i ran the cam number and came up as a 6.7 cab and chassis truck cam.... can someone tell me what the difference is in these cams and why my rods would be hitting it? or at least reassure me that if i get a stock 6.7 cam my rods will clear!!

that is the issue i didnt realize when i was turning it over on the stand that the cam hit in between the rod caps but was so close you could turn through it. so i just pulled the motor and now its time to take it all back apart and start over!!! fun stuff i wish i had a toyota camry sometimes

Consult the Cummins rod identification and installation guide. Different rods go in different ways. If they are hitting the cam, they are probably in backwards.

WOW! Flip them puppies around! For the coin on those carillo rods I would definately try them every direction, nice looking product though. If only my money tree hadnt dried up!

I guess I was too busy in the shop at that time but I dis put them in the correct way for a 6.7 just not a 12v so I did get it thanks guys!! And on those bullet rods I threw those away they are aka 6.7 rods BC the shoot through your block like a bullet!!
