You need to have a start point. Use a GPS to find the true speed then compare it to the indicated speed. I'd use a round number, 50 or 60 mph to make the math a little simpler. If your true speed is 60 and the speedo shows 70 you need a gear with more teeth. How many more? 70 is 1.167 X 60. If your present gear has 30 teeth you need one with 35 teeth (1.167 X 30).

I forget if we need short or long shaft gears, but I got mine from this place and they look brand new. Also, they're much cheaper than the dealership (~$90).

Short Shaft:

Long Shaft:

You should reply back on if we need short or long shaft, just for future reference.

Just got off the phone. I'm pretty sure he said I need a 30 tooth gear if my output gear on my t case has 13 teeth. Most of the 241 dhds do or it's an odd ball 7 tooth.

In most cases a t case with a speed sensor will have the short shaft/shank speedo gear

In most cases a t case with that has a cable driven speedo will be a long shaft/shank speedo gear

But not always. it's best to pop it out and take a look before I order. Also I need to figure out where to count the teeth in the t case. He is a busy guy

It doesn't quite match up with the chart though.
