Spent the day re-organizing the shop and moving the old girl up front! Got the cab yanked off of the Frame tonight, tomorrow I start tearing apart the 1st Gen. Will be bittersweet tearing it down but it will be reborn better than ever!Click the image to open in full size.Click the image to open in full size.Click the image to open in full size.Click the image to open in full size.

Looks like it's time to pressure wash.

Curious to what you're going to do with the 1st gen frame.

Indeed. Pressure washer is coming out today. Supposed to be warm before tomorrow than rain and blizzard. I have not idea what I am going to do with it. I thought about selling it. Within the last 8000 miles I've just re did the brakes on it and went to 1 ton brakes, new u joints everywhere, shocks, front leaf springs, I put a steering box brace in, blue top steering box, went through the front axle, I have a Tru trac for it. I have a power lok and a Yukon master overhaul kit for the rear end.

Awesome! Looks cold there. Keep the pictures coming.

Really curious how the 1st gen body mounts line up with 3rd gen.

Looks like a good collection of other cars... what all is tucked away under those covers?! Looks like maybe a grand national under one and up on the lift is a c2 vette?

And really anxious to see the outcome of your body swap! Perhaps some different headlights are coming for the 1st gen somewhere along the lines in this conversion?

Tucked away in the shop is a 1956 Chevy 210, a 1957 be air, 2 1962 impalas (one is a 409 4 speed), a 1963 impala, a 1969 camaro, a 1969 corvette and a 1983 Hurst/Oldsmobile cutlass

I am very anxious myself. It's been hard tearing the old girl though apart. We've had so much fun together. Lol I put in some LED drop in one's a couple years ago. Arguably imo the best money I've spent on the truck.

I should also say that I had a long very productive conversation with Mr. Will Terry over at Power Driven Diesel and the transmission is almost done. All said and done it will feature all the latest and greatest of 48re stuff. Even sporting one of their Trans brakes which we feel will be an awesome addition to the build.

Nice looking project. Not sure if you actually went with a Columbus pump, but the one they made for Old Ugly was mediocre. Their test data sheet was a generic copy with inflated numbers and improper timing data. Hack shop.

Thanks Ron! Old Ugly has been a huge inspiration for me.

And on the pump, it's the barrels and plungers and cam out of a cds pump being assembled and balanced by a local shop.

Interesting to hear about your experience with that pump.

Ha ha. They are fun to have around when it's not time to work in the shop. But when it is. They are always in the way

Being in IA, Chris would be a good guy to ask about the chassis swap, but he is extremely busy most of the time. He excel's at making silk purses out of sow's ears.

My experience with Columbus was if you didn't spend big money at their shop then they didnt care if you got a great product or a pile of dog ch*t.

Too much quantity, not enough quality. I think they are definitely capable though of doing grade A work though.

Where is everyone sourcing their wiring components from?

An outfit like Painless I imagine. That's what I am working on right now with a project of mine. Use the existing wire harness/harnesses to figure out what I need, and then order a harness from Painless for what I need and also what I want. Maybe there is a better way & I am all ears when it comes to this stuff. Automotive electrical is not something that just comes naturally to me, I gotta work at it. By the way, you sure didn't waste any time getting down to San Antone and back. Cool to see the quick updates and progress man.

Or wait, do you mean individual wiring components? We get the vast majority of ours from Winzer.
