ps..... what you run for track times with efi?

Most likely the case. I'm glad it at least got us as close to home as it did before going. You'd think the pounding at the track would have been the last straw.
EFI I believe has a lot to offer to get my truck past the 11.7 it's ran. I was running the base file from Rich and did consistent 12 flat. Only got 3 runs in and changed tuned once. The only change in the tune was added RP.
It also only did 780hp on the dyno which is way down from where it should be so, it must have been hurt for a while ??

thanks for the comments. Swole and Chris, thanks for the starter offers. It will be a while before I'll be able to start throwing money into it though. The economy hasn't changed a whole lot yet. My plan it to get it broke down and start a list of what I'll need, then go from there.

When I'm able, I'll likely put it back how it was. Monotherms and Cunningham rods with a few other little goodies would be sweet but, unfortunately somebody else just won the lottery

Looks like you had an exhaust leak...
Make sure you post your list of needed parts. I have quite a collection of spare parts, and I'm sure others do as well.
If you can tell for sure what failed first (not always possible, I know), please let us know.
Sorry about the problems.
Paul

Some of these common rails engines are really easy to remove once they fail. Just unbolt from the transmission, open the hood, and use a garden hose to clean the remains out of the engine compartment. Sounds like it endured quite a bit, but always a downer to have to build a new one.

dayum bud, I was soooooo hoping that you started this post yesterday, and then got us all with a good laugh, good luck on the rebuild. Maybe it was those countless rattles that had been taking a beating on parts over time that did it in.

^^^^^ man I wish ! I was really looking forward to PA this year. The truck was finally running the way it should ( efi ).
Here's a few more pics.....
The thought that the piston seized in the cylinder isn't what happen. The rod must have been cracked for a while and finally let go.
I was amazed to see all the pistons looking like the day they went in. No scuffing of the walls, no over spray. They've definitely seen their share of heat too.
This is the damaged cylinder #5. Doesn't look to be a problem from this side lol.....
#1 had a valve kiss in it.......
when these things blow..... they frikin' blow. Flywheel housing is shot and there's no turning the crank to get the TC off......
Like I mentioned, I wasn't sure what rods when into the truck when it was built before. They're definitely a bigger rod than the stocker that came in the truck......

thanks Paul. Yeah I notice a leak too coming off the secondary to the primary. It wasn't real bad though.
The motor is ready to come out.... just have to wait till my friend gets his backhoe to my shop lol I'll post more findings.

Dang it, Ty. Sorry to hear. Good luck on the next version! That truck looks great even without a motor FWIW. See ya at TS...sadely without a truck I would guess.

Ty
Sorry to see this man it sucks. If you need anything don't be afraid to call. It makes me think that as the tuning is getting better and better we are all pushing the limits of our equipment.

This connecting rod looks like it was cracked half through for a while.

You're probably right. I did find out they're 12v rods. 5yrs on them isn't too bad at 700 to 800hp.

I agree with Lee, looks to be oil soaked most of the way through, it was just waiting on the right time to exit stage left.
Hate to see it Ty, but I am sure in time it will be back as good or better than it was.

I'm kinda surprised to see your trans adaptor split like mine did (well, not quites as bad) from #5 going...
I wonder why....
Hope you crank is in tact..
On Edit::: Didn't realize the block was split all the way toward the back like that.. When it separated i guess it stretched the adaptor until it couldn't take it anymore..
I guess your crank will be in one piece.. Would still have it checked for cracks before reuse though... I think that was my problem.. Crank was cracked from a previous failure..
