Shimming green tv spring

Anybody here shim their tv spring? I already have the green one from the Trans go kit installed. I'm happy with the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts when it's not in lock up, but when I try to launch it with the lock up switch it barks bad between the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts and losses enough boost to fall out of the sweet spot- even if I launch at 2200 at 20 psi

I have a spare vb that I jb welded the passage for manual 2nd.

I'm buying some other vb springs off big blue but I wanted to see if there are any other ways to adjust it.

It a stock stall speed triple, silver bullet 64

You're trying to raise the shift points? Change out the governor weights. Assuming you have a RH if this is in your 95.... I also plug welded the smaller valvebody separator plate instead of JB Welding the passage.

I so have some governor weights that I put on my buddy's lathe and shaved a few grams off. I've pulled the od housing off with the tranny bolted to the truck but I'd like to stick to vb mods if I can

The jb weld mod made the truck act weird when I had overdrive turned off. It seemed to fade in and out of lockup.

Does your tranny act up with overdrive turned off ? 3rd gear lockup without the switch ?

I'm tempted to have my buddy weld it this time around and just manually shift it with the lock up switch on. Ideally I would like to be able to leave it in drive and let it shift by itself

With the overdrive turned off, the computer will lock the TC in 3rd gear as long as the TPS does see you in the top 3/4 of the throttle at low rpm.

You're best bet with the TV spring is to take the stock or spare green TV spring to the hardware store and find a stiffer spring that will fit. Back in the day I did this with the Junker, might have even doubled up the spring but I can't quite remember. All I know is playing with the 1-2 and 2-3 shift springs yielded more tune-able and predictable results.
