3.0 Smooth Bore Dyno Results

I'm not an engine builder by trade but as some of you know I have been working on coming up with a smooth bore power combo knowing that smooth bore has been talked about for years.

I hadn't really been doing much on it but since I am taking some time off of pulling I have had more time to over the last 7 months to really focus on it. Along with a buddy of mine and a local machine shop we have been building some prototypes. Some Holset based, some S-500 based, and some GT based.

We finally had a chance to strap a few of them on a known power plant and dyno them. I haven't heard a lot on the numbers from other builders but we were pretty happy ours actually lasted on the dyno and made some good power.

Motor is a deck plate 6.7 with a 24 valve head and top feed injectors fed by a 13mm pump.

Your torq number in the ball park, but Hp number seem high to me. Especially for your torq and rpm.

I'm not sure what you mean.

HP = (TQXRPM)/5252

(4500*2010)/5252=1722 seems to be right in the ball park

We are actually lower if you remove the correct factor (1682)

I'm not sure who "they" are but I always like to do things my own way. Sometimes it works out sometimes it goes really bad. . Jeremy send me a text. I'm willing to share some of the specs with you.

Yes they do calculate out. The torq number seems in the ball park as far what I have heard, but it may not have been at those rpm. The hp numbers seem off. Between all the trucks, and tractors we have seen a 3 in smooth bore turbo on we never heard or seen those numbers. So that's what I meant by it. The hp numbers seem high.

If your getting those kind of numbers, I know an engine sitting on a dyno that it could tested on and back up against a different turbo at least on a duramax. Jeremy is right. Your at least 300 hp high if not more than that from what we are hearing out there.

I would never back up Cummins numbers with a Dmax. Get serious.

What's this 3.0 smooth bore Dmax making now? I'd be interested in the printout. We can put a couple of these on it and test them.

Not saying backing up Cummins numbers with Duramax numbers. Saying your 3.0 turbo vs another 3.0 smooth bore on Duramax. If you are getting the numbers you say, we should see an increase. If your interest you can PM me, and we can go over numbers.

Interesting how some people have worded things - that your numbers are "high" or "off". Isn't that the whole point? To make more than the next guy?

3" smooth bore chargers aren't new, that is why it is worded like that.

If this is the new "standard hp rating" for limited pro stock, I have a lot to catch up on from last year. Wow....lol.

Highest I've seen from 3.6 is right at 1700. Your sure someone didn't mix up the Dyno sheets?

I've heard a Scheid customer tell me he dynoed 2000 HP on their dyno with a 3.0 Hart's hx82/hc5a.... So, yes, I would say Scheid's #'s are about 300 HP high... Because, no way in hell that Hart's 3.0 made 2000 real fwhp IMO. I know 4.1 guys who were bearly making that last couple years, but one picked up 180hp going to a Hart's 4.1 from his 5 year old Fair Valley 4.1

I know 640ci super farm guys who can't quite reach the 1400hp mark pushing 100+ psi boost....and they've been working, spending money, and trying for years, so no way a 460ci or less engine makes more power than them.
