Inbred Inline golf cart build!!

Finally started on something I've been wanting to do for years tonight-a coal oraling golf cart. Donor vehicle is a worn out kubota G4200 garden tractor I stumbled across for $100 that runs flawlessly, has a Z430 2 cylinder 12hp engine that is the perfect size. The victim is a 92 Club Car DS I bought out of my next door neighbors cart junkyard complete with body and already with gas engine removed. Going to paint it up to match my 2.5 truck. I also found a small turbo for it off of a wrangler mini payloader that just happens to be the same mounting flange as my little exhaust manifold! I have come to the conclusion tonight that I need to lift the cart slightly to make clearance under the seat for the tall little engine, 2-4" should be more than sufficient. Most of the tractor wiring harness will be transplanted over so I have the glow plug controller and wiring for the electric fuel pump already done for me.

Took a whopping 20 minutes to get it pulled
From its old home

Lowered it into place to see how it looked, going to cut the frame apart on the tractor and weld the front rails to the engine cradle on the cart to mount the engine, using the original shock mounts and everything.

Need to turn up a adapter to replace the old PTO pulled that bolted on the flywheel with the factory club car clutch, once I get this done I'll know right where the engine has to sit and can mount it.

Knowing someone that put a 750cc Suzuki motorcycle engine in a golf cart and shortly after took an expensive ride in a medical helicopter........good luck. Looks fun though.

Cool project. I would like a diesel golf cart. Are you going to use a start button or use the starter/generator? What about fueling upgrades?

Using the starter and alternator on the diesel for starting/charging, I had the tractor for 2 days and the fuel delivery screw found itself backed out a bit

If it was me I wouldnt run the CVT directly off the crank, motor doesnt spin enough RPMS to get full shift out(think speed) Also diesel are hard on CVT due to there power pulse's.

If it was me doing this I would run a 1:2 chain/timing belt set up off the pto of the diesel to a jack shaft that has the primary of the CVT on it. This should get you pretty close to the gas rpm range that the cvt is set to work at.

I had a 650 snowmobile engine is an old Harley Davidson 3 wheel golf-cart yrs ago (15+) I ended up pissing blood for a day after I slid it sideways into a curb and the "handle bar" jacked me in my side. The thing was sure fun but deadly.

The factory club cars I'm told only end up spinning 2800-3000, the clutch even says 3k max on it, this little guy spins to 3200 so speed is not an issue. I'm not that concerned with going fast with the thing, 15-20 for cruising around the neighborhood is more than enough for me

If u did gear it up you could run the engine at a lower rpm and net the same speed. Then you could govern it down until you wanted to have fun. There will be plenty of torque to run cruising speed at say 1000 rpms.

Running that little guy at full swing would probably vibrate you to death and the noise would suck I am sure. Vibrations aren't good on aluminum either. Loves to crack. Just my for what it is worth.

Very freakin cool build. Makes me want to add another project to my list that never seems to end

It actually runs quite a bit smoother wound up, helps that it has some awesome vibration mounts too though, I'm reusing the original mounting setup and it mounts to the axle/engine cradle assembly which is insulated from the frame so I expect it to be pretty reasonable

I think you're confusing a Cummins with a Kubota two cylinder. From what I could find, the Club Car has a 9hp engine in it that would max out at 3k rpm. You're replacing it with 12hp engine that maxes out at 3k rpm. You're not gonna have a boatload more torque at 1k rpm with the diesel than you will with the gas engine. At that speed, you probably only have 2-4 hp.
