10 years ago Diesel Motorsports was just getting started. With the help of Jason aka "F8LDOSE" we have found some video we had laying around in the dust. Here is the first of a few trucks I have video of. and will do a brief history on.

Jason Betker's Puller from 2001 on the dyno at Booze Brothers Racing in Marion, PA. On there Mustang Dyno, Thanks to this truck alone not a single diesel vehicle will ever dyno there again. Charlie was warned of the smoke but said it cant be that bad..... This truck has since been parted out, the engine has changed hands to the deep south and back and is currently in a puller in PA

95 orig a 2wd with an added Ford dana 60 leaf spring front, 14 Bolt rear 3.73 gears, Built engine, Turbos were a B1 over an HT4C, Fuel was provided by a Curtis Rice Built 13mm P-Pump Feeding a set of Curts Bosch 5x.013 "Sac style nozzles"

808HP

too bad he got out of the sport. it was always interesting to see what he was up to, even though he was the most secretative person i had ever met.
coop you selling your truck? whats your next move?

sweet, back in 2001 a our neighbor farmer got a 2001 dodge cummins fully loaded for a work truck and it was probly the coolest truck at the time.

course back then i had no clue diesel pickups were even hot rodded.... i was 11 LOL

The First Diesel Truck i had ever driven was when I was 16, i learned to drive stick on a '96 F350 Single Cab 2wd Dually. I thought it was the coolest thing ever.

And the first Diesel truck I had ever ridden in was my Grampa's 1990 Dodge W250. I remember to this day him telling me that the trailer brake controller was a Turbo boost button, and for me to Hang on when he floored it and pushed the trailer brake controller, lol, I was gullible when I was 10.

Hmm....
When you think back to the pearl harbor job Jason did to us that year at Fall Brawl with the number he laid down,792hp,on fuel alone many of us in attendence never thought it would be that long until another 12v eclipsed it.The players involved in making that truck lay that number down were many and some of the best known today. That number stood until a few years ago when John Porterfield came in and went 802 with his 96 Red Rocket.

Whats even more amazing to me is how the parts from Jason's truck went on and even helped further the sport even more.Motor went to a well known southern diesel drag team who lapped it for a few years setting records until it was sold to Andy Sebek. That same motor,or most of it as it was fitted with a new block, resides in Garafalo's two Toned puller "Perseverence" now.The pump was last on Andrew Stevens puller called "Fatal Attraction" when he was pulling,a truck which is now for sale as a roller on here. The big chargers that were on the truck went with the black 2wd drag truck that rauautomotive bought from Jason and then later resold out in Arizona.

I can remember that day he dynoed with us and can say that many of us never expected how well it ran.I am amazed each year at how much further the numbers go and where we started at many years ago.Jason and Curt were way ahead of their time and yet today we all still are playing catch up.........Andy

P.S.-I think these photos were posted once before a while ago but here is a couple of the very few still shots of Jason's truck. The shot from in the bay shows a another very well known power player snooping for secrets. The one smoke shot shows one of our clubs former members who took alot of our photos back then,Don Troxell, and TimeBomb's wife running for higher ground.

I remember in 2000 when I was 15 I wanted a diesel so bad. I thought they were the greatest thing. I worked for a farmer down the road Id ride a bike to go work so I could buy my first truck. My dad thought it was retarded and always said I dont know why you want a stinky, loud, SLOW, diesel truck. I knew were there was a 86 Chevy 1 ton SRW, 4sp with a Banks turbo on it. It got sold and I got a 74 Chevy K20 instead from my dad as my first truck. I ended up buying a 95 12v 4x4 with 298k for 5k when I was going to school in Ohio. I built the tranny put gov springs in it injectors and timed it. I thought it was pretty awesome when I was 19 to have a truck that ran that good. There werent a ton of trucks turned up out there then. I even remember going to thunder in Muncie back in 01 and 02. Time has flown by and now I have a CR that Im going to be turning into a 2.6 puller and I have an 04 Dually tow rig and a 2010 32ft GN trailer. I love diesel motorsports and go to as many as I can even though Im not a pioneer in the sport I have been into for quite a while and have enjoyed it.

In 2001, Ray gullet's VP powered truck went 600+ on fuel only and I started hotrodding my 02 the next year... 9 years have gone by quick.

Love the responses guys, I think its fitting we reflect on our past and see how far we have come. I have some more video that should shake things up a bit...

Post them up.

I remember watching the piers' Dancing with a Dodge" video and loving it. The winners of dyno days only had 550hp or so. Kent Crowder's Black truck at the county fair with A/Ts and OEM drivetrain. I was the first guy in my area to run a stack. That was fun back in 02.

the first diesel i ever drove was a 1984 GMC with the old 6.2 in it, all the noise and clatter was soooo cool when i was 14 and learning how to drive. when i was 18 i bought a 1991 W350 with almost 800k miles for 500 dollars, i maxed the pump out and cranked the timing as far as i could and put a stack in it, that truck ran HOT and got the piss rodded out of it till i jumped it 70 feet and broke the front springs, to this day the motor still runs and the truck is getting a P-pumped 24 valve engine and being made into a 2.8 puller. my second diesel is the one in my sig, after about 8 turbo's and two different sets of twins, despite all the problems i've had its a fun truck and i love tinkering and learning how to make these things run good

I remember seeing Kent Crowders black dually pulling in like 01 with MT/Rs and probably making 450hp and people went crazy over it. I used to go to Tipton county pull in june and sept and seeing all the Haisley machine trucks and I thought it was like a machine or welding shop or something. That was when I was maybe 14 or so but I was hooked pretty early in age.

I remember going to the Stoneboro Fairgrounds when I was like 14 or so, and seeing Gene's old red truck. Everyone in our area knew that truck and thought it was really cool.

Ahhhh The Great SledPuller !!

Here is a vid and a few pics. The video was shot at the "Fall Brawl" dyno event in Yorksprings, Pa. The pics are some of when Gene ran it and others after it changed hands to Winchester, Va area. It was painted silver when Matt Yost owned it then after the current owner Bobby Franz purchased it it recieved the new paint sceme. Other then that Gene would be the better man to give details on his truck then me. He can also confirm the rumor of the burnout being done in 4 wheel drive or not

I never saw it in silver, but it did look good! It was at Stoneboro last year, or the year before, I can't remember with the new paint scheme.
